The Master Key from Update 1.3 is the best late-game tool investment I have unlocked. It opens most standard locks instantly, dramatically speeding up heists.

Each tool type has multiple quality tiers. Higher tiers are more expensive but break less often and work faster.

Higher tiers unlock larger sweet spots on lockpicking mini-games and generate less noise. The difference between Basic and Standard is immediately noticeable -- you will break your Basic lockpick on the second or third door of a multi-room house, while a Standard pick handles a whole run. Advanced Tools
Master Key (Update 1.3)
Opens most standard residential locks instantly without a mini-game. Does not work on electronic locks or high-security safes. I use it on every standard door. Combined with the hacking tool for electronic locks, it covers about 80% of entry points.

Best use cases:
- Speed runs where every second counts
- Houses with 5+ standard doors (common in suburban district)
- Co-op runs where the Lockpick needs to clear doors fast
Hacking Tool
Unlocked through the Hacking skill leaflet. Opens electronic door locks and security panels. Without this, electronic locks stop you cold. I found my first hacking leaflet in a special loot box inside a house with electronic locks.
How to find the hacking leaflet: Special loot boxes (marked with a unique icon) in mid-to-high security houses have the best drop rate. I found mine in the third district on a house with visible electronic locks -- the game seems to place the leaflet near the locks that require it.
Invisibility Tool
Mentioned in developer previews as an expensive tool that makes you invisible for about 60 seconds. Exact requirements are still being refined by the developer. It may not be in all game versions yet. If available, it would be the ultimate panic button for escaping police or bypassing patrols.

- Pro Flashlight (~$250) -- wider beam, longer battery. Worth it for the battery life alone -- a dead flashlight mid-heist means missed loot.
- Advanced Hacking leaflet -- unlocks electronic entry. This is the gatekeeper to the high-loot district. Without it, you skip the best houses.
- Master Key (Update 1.3) -- skip most lockpicking mini-games. Saves roughly 30-60 seconds per house, which adds up over 20+ heists.
- Tool Maintenance leaflet -- saves money on repairs long-term. The earlier you get it, the more it pays back.
The Tool Maintenance skill pays for itself after about 10 heists based on my experience. If you play frequently, hunt for this leaflet before spending on expensive premium tools. On a standard 20-heist run, Tool Maintenance saves approximately $2,000-$4,000 in repair costs alone -- enough to buy the Master Key.
Repair vs Replace Decision
When a tool breaks, you have two options: repair or replace.

- Store gold bars in hideout upgrades immediately -- never travel with them
