If your dealers are idle or your lab technicians are producing below capacity, the bottleneck is almost never the employee count. It is setup. Drug Dealer Simulator 2 has a specific set of mechanics that determine whether your staff produces or wastes your inventory. Here are the five fixes that move the needle.
1. Assign Dealers to Dealer Spots First
This is the most common mistake new players make: buying dealers but not assigning them to spots.
A dealer without an assigned dealer spot produces zero revenue. They stand around, consume wages, and do nothing.
How to assign:
- Open the dealer management interface
- Select an active dealer
- Assign them to an available dealer spot on your base map
- Confirm the assignment
Dealer spots are finite. You unlock more by expanding your base and purchasing additional spot furniture through the furniture menu. The first dealer spot unlocks early; subsequent spots cost progressively more.
Once a dealer is placed, they automatically begin serving customers who walk into their zone -- provided there is inventory to sell.
2. Keep Dealers Stocked at All Times
A dealer assigned to a spot but out of product is as useless as an unassigned dealer. Inventory management is the second half of the efficiency equation.
How to keep dealers stocked:
- Monitor the dealer inventory levels in the management interface
- Restock before a run -- do not wait until the dealer has sold out
- Prioritize your highest-margin products for the dealers assigned to your busiest spots
Lab technicians produce product. Dealers sell product. If your technicians are running but your dealers are idle, check the supply chain: is the meth or opium actually reaching the dealer inventory?
3. Raise Regional Reputation to Unlock Better Employees
Reputation is the gatekeeper for employee quality. Higher regional reputation unlocks better dealer tiers and more influencer options.
How to raise reputation (confirmed from the official PlayWay wiki):
- Complete deal transactions successfully -- do not get raided or caught
- Finish jobs and assignments for NPC contacts
- Invest in regional improvements when prompted
How to lose reputation:
- Getting raided by police
- Getting caught during robberies
- Stealing from NPCs in your territory
Reputation recovery is slower than reputation loss. Avoid getting raided in your main territory if possible.
Higher reputation also improves the quality of employees that influencers recommend -- the same influencer meeting produces better candidates when your reputation is high.
4. Maximize Influencer Meeting Swag
Influencers appear periodically and offer to recommend employees. The quality of their recommendations scales with the swag you bring to the meeting.
Swag strategy:
- Higher swag = better recommended employees
- Bring your best available product to influencer meetings
- The staff guide notes that influencer recommendations typically yield 2 new employees per meeting
Do not skip influencer meetings. Even if your current staff feels adequate, the employee cap grows with your operation -- more dealers and technicians mean more output.
5. Separate Employee Roles Correctly
DDS2 has distinct employee types with different functions. Mixing them up wastes their potential.
| Role | Function | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dealers | Sell to customers | Must have spot + inventory |
| Lab Technicians | Cook product | Must have recipe unlocked + ingredients |
| Distributors | Transport product between locations | Unlocks at higher reputation |
Assign employees to their correct roles. A lab technician placed in a dealer spot will not cook; a dealer placed in the lab will not sell.
For a complete breakdown of all employee roles and their unlock conditions, see the employee roles guide.
Quick Staff Efficiency Checklist
Before every session:
- [ ] All active dealers assigned to dealer spots
- [ ] Dealer spots have sufficient inventory
- [ ] Lab technicians are actively producing (check recipe queue)
- [ ] No employees idle with no assigned role
- [ ] Reputation stable or rising (avoid raids)
Run this checklist before each session and your staff output should consistently improve. Staff efficiency compounds -- as your dealers earn and your reputation rises, you unlock better employees, which produces more revenue, which funds more expansion.
The five-point efficiency check system: fix items 1-2 first, then work down the list.
