Hideouts

DDS2 Hideout Locations Guide and Raid Protection

Hideouts in DDS2 are your operational bases, and they can be raided based on your wanted level and the hideout's visibility rating. I lost my first major stockpile to a raid because I kept everything in the starter shack. The community guide "Pedro Alvarez Real Estate Agency" documents all locations with prices, water/phone line availability, and visibility ratings. This guide covers how to choose hideouts, how raids work, and how to protect your assets.

How raids work:

The Fandom wiki confirms: raid probability is affected by wanted level (None / Person of Interest / Suspect / Wanted) and hideout visibility. Helicopters can appear during raids at higher wanted levels. The raid system checks these factors periodically, not continuously, so there is some randomness in when raids trigger.

Wanted Level Raid Probability Protection Strategy
None Low Standard precautions sufficient
Person of Interest Medium Split assets across 2+ hideouts
Suspect High Hire guards, use hidden compartments
Wanted Very High Minimize time at any single hideout

Practical example: The three-hideout model

After losing a full stash to a raid, I adopted the three-hideout model that the Reddit community recommends:

Hideout Stores Risk if Raided
A (rural/jungle) Raw materials, low-value product Low -- easy to replace
B (industrial) Processing equipment, work-in-progress Medium -- loss of crafting time
C (coastal) Finished product, cash reserves High -- biggest monetary value

If one hideout gets raided, you lose at most one-third of your total operation. I also keep an emergency reserve of approximately $2,000 in cash at each hideout so that a single raid does not leave me broke. This model has saved me from complete wipeouts multiple times.

Hideout purchase order:

From cross-referencing the community hideout guide and Reddit discussions:

Purchase # Location Type Estimated Cost Purpose
Starter Beach shack Free Tutorial missions, early storage
2nd Rural/jungle ~$1,500-4,500 Raw materials, low visibility
3rd Industrial/Callejon ~$5,000-8,000 Processing equipment, medium visibility
4th Coastal/Slavs Bay ~$8,000-15,000 High-value production (meth, cocaine)
5th+ Downtown/villas $15,000+ Endgame operations, co-op hub

Visibility rating guide:

Different hideout types have different base visibility ratings. Lower visibility means lower raid probability:

Hideout Type Visibility Best Use
Underground/bunker Very low Primary lab, high-value storage
Jungle cabin Low Cannabis grow, raw material processing
Rural house Low-Medium General production
Industrial warehouse Medium Amphetamine/meth processing
Coastal property Medium Distribution hub
Downtown apartment High Sales hub, client meetings
Villa Very high Endgame status symbol, not for storage
The community consensus from Reddit is clear: if you turn off raids in game settings, you can use any location for space. But with raids enabled (which is how the game is designed to be played), prioritize low-visibility locations for your main lab. A villa might look appealing, but it will attract police attention quickly. Keep your high-value production in rural or underground hideouts.

Hideout protection checklist:

  • [ ] Own at least 2 hideouts before net worth exceeds $5,000
  • [ ] Keep raw materials and finished product in separate locations
  • [ ] Maintain low wanted level before visiting high-value hideouts
  • [ ] Use rural/jungle hideouts for main lab (lower visibility)
  • [ ] Install guard station at highest-value hideout
  • [ ] Keep emergency cash reserve at each location
  • [ ] When raided, escape using parkour rather than fighting
  • [ ] After raid, reduce wanted level before rebuilding stock

Island-by-island hideout recommendations:

Island Best Early Hideout Best Late Hideout
Small Island Starter shack (free) Not recommended for production
Archipelago Cottage (~$4k) Restaurant building (~$12k)
Callejon Industrial unit (~$6k) Warehouse (~$15k)
Slavs Bay Coastal house (~$8k) Underground lab (~$20k)
Jungle Cabin (~$3k) River house (~$10k)
